Egyptian authorities are currently reviewing these reports in detail.

EgyptAir flight MS804, which departed from Paris to Cairo on May 19 with 66 passengers on board, suddenly disappeared while en route from Greece into the Mediterranean Sea. Greek air traffic control authorities had previously tried to contact the plane's pilot but failed.

The Egyptian military said on May 20 that it had found debris, furniture, luggage and seats believed to be from Flight MS804 in an area 180 miles north of Alexandria, Greece. However, Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos confirmed that the debris was not from MS804.

There has been no sign of wreckage or the flight’s “black box,” although a European satellite has detected a 1.2-mile-long oil slick, about 25 miles from MS804’s last known location. Military forces from the United States, France, Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Britain have joined the search.

Officials believe terrorism was the cause of the crash. However, no terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
