(Baonghean.vn) - On July 15, a mother and daughter from Nghi Loc,Nghe AnLe Thi Thuong Huyen was broadcast on Korean National Television KBS.
Ms. Le Thi Thuong Huyen (born in 1985, originally from Nghi Loc) is currently an interpreter at the Multicultural Center in Chungcheongbuk-do Province (South Korea). Recently, in the program "Bilingual Speaking Contest for Children of Multicultural Families" broadcast on television, she was honored to be selected to become one of the judges. More specifically, she and her daughter were also featured on television to share their secrets to teaching their children to speak both Korean and Vietnamese well.
Ms. Thuong Huyen's daughter's name is Won Su Bin, currently 4 years old but she is fluent in both Korean and Vietnamese.
In the program, in addition to being a judge, Ms. Le Thi Thuong Huyen also appeared on air to share how a foreign mother effectively raised a bilingual child. The contest is organized by the Chungcheongbuk Provincial Department of Education with the following rules: from elementary to high school students, schools will send representatives to give a speech in two languages: first in Korean and then in the mother tongue (same content) to evaluate the score. This is not only a passion in life but also a motivation and responsibility of a girl from Nghe An who wants to preserve the precious cultural values of the nation, especially the language.
