Mai Dieu is the eldest sister in a Thai ethnic family. Her father is currently working at the Tuong Duong District Police (Nghe An).

We arrived at the People's Public Security Academy at the time when the entire Academy was urgently preparing for the 2016 Youth Camp to review the glorious tradition of 85 years of construction, dedication and growth of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, 70 years of the Academy's Traditional Day and 60 years of construction and growth of the Academy's Youth Union.

In the excited atmosphere of the students in the middle of the school yard, I came across a small student with a bright smile, wiping his sweat and running quickly to guide and direct his friends to quickly prepare to set up camp.

It turns out that the girl with the color of the sun has a very special name: Kha Thi Mai Dieu, currently the Secretary of the Youth Union of class B13D44. Behind her slim figure is a shining example in studying and in the Youth Union activities of the Academy.

Being a child of Nghe An land with the “specialty” of Lao wind and white sand, born and raised in the poor mountainous district of Tuong Duong, which is famous for its unstable security situation, complicated crime and drug abuse. Mai Dieu is the eldest sister in a Thai ethnic family, her father is currently working at the Tuong Duong District Police.

Mai Dieu confided that since she was little, the image of her father in police uniform, fighting criminals, keeping the village peaceful was deeply imprinted in her mind. Then gradually, the dream of becoming a female police officer permeated the young girl without her knowing. When they learned about their daughter's dream, many members of her family strongly opposed it. Her father sighed: "It's very hard for a girl to follow this career, my child!" And then, thanks to her determination and efforts, Mai Dieu was able to convince her family to let her follow in her father's footsteps.

At the age of 8, he left his family and moved to a town school to study in order to have better learning conditions. At that time, to get his parents to agree to let him study away from home, he always tried to prove himself as an independent person through his academic results, with many years of consecutive achievements as an excellent student.

Mai Dieu was selected to study at the School of Culture I - Ministry of Public Security. That was the motivation for her to make more efforts in studying and training. During her 3 years at the school, Mai Dieu achieved the title of excellent student. In addition, she was also elected by her classmates as Secretary of the Youth Union and achieved many other achievements in the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement. Becoming the valedictorian of the 2009 - 2012 course of the school, Mai Dieu was recruited to study at the People's Police Academy.

In the past 4 years of study, Mai Dieu has always achieved the title of excellent student of the Academy.

When asked if Mai Dieu would miss home so much when studying far away from home, Dieu smiled and said: “Because I have been away from home to study since I was little, I am not too surprised with the new environment. On the contrary, I find myself quickly integrating with my older siblings and friends. Sometimes I feel sad when I see my classmates go home on weekends, but because of my circumstances, I live far away, so I just try my best. Besides, my parents are very understanding, they call me every week to share, so gradually I feel less homesick. At school, I also have friends and teachers who always encourage and help me a lot in studying and living.”

Being a military school, students have to work two or three times harder than male students to complete the subjects that involve physical strength such as shooting, martial arts, etc. to do well. For Mai Dieu, difficulties do not mean insurmountable, so the pressure of studying gradually disappears.

Mai Dieu shared, the days of learning martial arts in the summer, the sun was scorching, sweat was pouring on the training ground, she and her friends shared sometimes just a sip of water, a cake but felt extremely happy. Then the days of practical work in the mass mobilization in Hai Hau, Nam Dinh, the male friends had to ride bicycles to take the female friends to the market. Or the days when she had to go to the Mobile Police Training Center (K20) to practice in preparation for the parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of National Day September 2, on the weekends the homeroom teacher and male friends came to visit and encourage her, helping her to ease the feeling of missing the class, missing the school, all of which are unforgettable memories under the roof of the Academy.

Being the Captain of the C500 Volunteer Club (2013-2014), I am also a member of the IIA Specialized Women's Volleyball Team and the Academy team, the Academy's Folk Dance Club, and participated in organizing a gratitude program at the Cultural School I on the occasion of November 20th organized by the Academy's Youth Union. In the second year, I joined the Academy's Youth Blood Donation Team and became the Captain of the Blood Team with 9 times of humanitarian blood donation.
