Boxer Hoang Ha Giang, former world champion and silver medalist at the 2006 ASIAD, passed away after a long battle with illness.

Hoang Ha Giang was born in 1991 in Ho Chi Minh City. She has a talent for martial arts and has practiced taewondo since childhood. At the age of 15, Ha Giang made a name for herself when she brought home a silver medal for Vietnamese sports at the 2006 ASIAD in Doha, Qatar. Between 2006 and 2008, Ha Giang also won two gold medals at the World Youth Championships.

While her career was on the rise, in 2008, the talented Vietnamese taewondo girl was diagnosed with lupus erythematosus. Ha Giang had to leave the ring to treat the terrible disease. Retiring at the age of 17, her family's financial situation was difficult, so she had to work extra to earn money for treatment.

In 2013, she had a traffic accident and broke her leg and had to take more than half a year off work to treat two illnesses at the same time.

Two weeks ago, Ha Giang had a stomachache and had to be hospitalized. She had surgery for enteritis. However, after the surgery, Giang did not wake up due to her weak resistance due to the effects of taking medication to treat systemic lupus erythematosus.

She was released to her family by the hospital at noon on December 7 and breathed her last that evening.
