The poor student and the top student in Biology.

Dinh Thi Huyen was born into a farming family in Nghi Cong Nam commune, a mountainous area. She has five siblings. Huyen's father passed away early, leaving her mother to single-handedly raise and educate all five children, resulting in a very difficult family situation.

Without feeling inferior or ashamed of her circumstances, Dinh Thi Huyen has always been studious and excelled in her studies since childhood. For 11 consecutive years, she was an all-around excellent student, respected by her friends for her simplicity and diligence.

In the recent provincial-level excellent student competition for 12th graders, Dinh Thi Huyen participated in Biology and excelled, achieving 18.25 points – securing the top spot in the entire province. Speaking about her achievement, this petite and shy student said that after the exam, she knew she would get that score, but she was quite surprised to be the top scorer in Biology. “I think many students are better than me, but perhaps I was luckier than them in this exam,” Huyen confided.

The top-scoring female student shared that the secret to excelling in Biology is mastering the knowledge in the textbook, seeking out additional materials and exam questions for practice, and making connections to the surrounding phenomena. “In class, I pay close attention to the theory, and at home I solve exercises. If I don't understand something, I ask the teacher. My Biology teacher is very dedicated and enthusiastic, always ready to guide students in exploring new knowledge and exam question types…,” Huyen shared, adding that after the provincial-level excellent student competition, she is working hard to pass the entrance exam to Hanoi Medical University to realize her dream of becoming a doctor.

Speaking about his outstanding student, Biology teacher Nguyen Phu Hoa said: "Huyen is a student with many qualities. Despite her difficult family circumstances, she always knows how to overcome challenges and strive for success. She is proactive in her studies, diligently seeking out new knowledge, so her academic results are always excellent. In addition, Huyen is a very sociable, friendly, and enthusiastic student in the school's Youth Union activities. She is always ready to help her friends when needed."

It is known that in the recent exam, in addition to the first prize won by Dinh Thi Huyen, the Biology team of Nghi Loc II High School also won a second prize with Nguyen Thi Kieu Anh. This is also the first time Nghi Loc II High School has had a top scorer in Biology in the provincial-level 12th-grade excellent student competition.
