The poor student of Van hamlet and her dream of university
(Baonghean.vn) - For the first time in over 20 years, in Van hamlet, Nghia Thang commune, Nghia Dan district, Lo Thi Tinh, a Thai ethnic minority student, was admitted to university. However, before the joy could begin, sadness and worry came as her family did not know where to find the money to send her to school.

The good news that Lo Thi Tinh passed the entrance exam to Hanoi Law University, with a score of 26.25 (including 9.5 points for Literature, 7.75 points for History and 9 points for Geography) made the whole Van neighborhood burst into joy because this was the first time in this remote, poor neighborhood that someone had successfully studied.
Tinh was born and raised in a family with parents who were farmers, had many children, and was a poor household. From grade 1 to grade 9, she was always an excellent student. In grade 10, she was admitted to Nghe An Province's Ethnic Boarding High School and she was also the only person in Van hamlet to finish grade 12 and pass the university entrance exam with high results.

To achieve this result is a great effort of the girl because the family's circumstances are extremely difficult. There is no land, 5 mouths to feed only depend on the seasonal, unstable work of her parents. Her father is sick today, sick tomorrow, and needs medicine all year round. During the days waiting for the university entrance exam results, she also took the opportunity to peel sugarcane leaves for hire, earning extra income for the family.
Ms. Le Thi Dao - Secretary of Van hamlet, Nghia Thang commune said: "When we heard that Lo Thi Tinh passed the university entrance exam, the villagers were very happy. We sympathized with her family's current situation, but we were sure that she could not continue her studies because her family's situation was too difficult. The village also wanted to help her because she was the only person in the hamlet who passed the university entrance exam, but Van hamlet is still very poor. We just hope that there is a benefactor who can help her realize her dream of going to university."
Van hamlet has 45 households, 100% of which are ethnic minorities. Over the past 20 years since the village was established, no student has finished grade 12.
Lo Thi Tinh sadly shared: “Now my dream of passing the university entrance exam to become a law student has come true. I dream that after graduating, I will return to my hometown to help my fellow villagers gain more knowledge about the law. However, due to my family’s current circumstances, I probably don’t have the money to be able to study.”
