Japan has relaxed its immigration policy to offset its labor shortage. |
According to the assessment of the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs), Japan is one of Vietnam's key labor markets. The Vietnamese government supports sending workers to work abroad in good markets and non-prohibited industries.
Since 2018, Japan has had many new opportunities for Vietnamese workers. Specifically, from January 1, 2018, the basic salary for foreign workers has increased from 789 yen/hour to 823 yen/hour.
This decision applies to all workers working in 47 Japanese prefectures. In addition, the Japanese Government has extended the maximum working period in Japan to 5 years and this decision applies to all interns working in Japan.
By introducing changes in immigration policy, such as relaxing the length of stay and professional assessment conditions, the Japanese Government aims to attract workers in construction, agriculture, fishing and many other labor-hungry industries by 2025.
Specifically, according to calculations in the construction industry alone, it is expected that by 2025, Japan will lack about 780,000 - 930,000 workers; the agricultural industry will lack 46,000 - 103,000 workers by 2023. The nursing industry expects to attract an additional 10,000 foreign nurses each year. This is a good opportunity for unskilled workers who want to work in this country.
