An ancient Egypt expert has claimed there may be a hidden doorway underneath Egypt's famous Sphinx statue.

Mystery has surrounded the iconic Egyptian structure for years. With historians still debating many questions, including who built it, when it was built, and are there secret tunnels beneath it?

Matt Sibson, an expert on history and ancient civilization, believes that at the foot of the Sphinx in Egypt there is a mysterious unknown door.

Recently, Matt Sibson, an expert in history and ancient civilization, believes that two relics related to the Sphinx could be very important clues in determining what lies beneath this famous architecture.

In his new video, Matt says that in ancient Egypt, there were three "steles" (stone slabs with drawings on them) that were located in front of the Sphinx when it was first erected.

The first, the Dream Stela, was built by King Thutmose between 1479 and 1425 BC and still stands at the site. The other two, Stela B and Stela C, were created by Ramesses the Great more than 200 years later.

They were removed from the Sphinx and taken to the Louvre in Paris, France, in the 19th century but have remained little known since.

Fate struck when historian Matt Sibson came across images of two stelae in an 1837 book by explorer Howard Vyce made at the Giza Pyramids.

Matt revealed Howard said in his book that those who explored it at the time found a door.

Excavators found a doorway beneath the Sphinx, which may point to a chamber beneath it, Matt said.

But the Howard image currently shows only one of the stelae in detail. More detailed analysis is needed.

Matt firmly believes there is more to the Great Sphinx, especially underneath the structure.

“I think there is something underneath, there are a lot of tunnels under the Giza plateau,” Matt added.
