Electricity stocks rise sharply

On the stock market, electricity stocks are of interest amid the heat wave and power outages in the North. Electricity stocks such as LCG (Lizen JSC), BCG (Bamboo Capital JSC), PC1 (PC1 Group JSC), HDG (Ha Do Group JSC), KHP (Khanh Hoa Electricity JSC)... all increased in price.

Notably, electrical equipment stocks traded positively. GEX of GELEX Group Corporation continued to extend its streak of 5 consecutive increasing sessions since the beginning of June, increasing by 15.7%, reaching VND19,100/share after closing on June 9.

Similarly, POT shares (Postal Equipment JSC) increased for 3 consecutive sessions from VND18,100/share on June 6 to VND20,300/share on June 9, equivalent to 12%. Meanwhile, DQC shares (Dien Quang Lamp JSC) increased by 3% in 4 sessions, from VND19,150/share on June 5 to VND19,800/share after closing the weekend session.

The Electricity Industry also received positive news from the official approval of the VIII Power Plan. According to VNDirect Securities, businesses in the electricity infrastructure construction sector will benefit most clearly due to the relatively high workload, especially in the electricity and renewable energy sectors.

The power construction group, including power lines and transformer stations, will also have optimistic prospects. PC1, FCN (FECON JSC), and TV2 (Power Construction Consulting JSC 2) will be the businesses expected to benefit the earliest.

Renewable electricity "save" real estate

Many real estate businesses, thanks to "switching" to wind and solar power, are seeing impressive revenue results in the first quarter of 2023, in the context of a sharp decline in real estate.

A typical example is Ha Do Group Corporation (HDG). This real estate company has entered the energy business early. To date, HDG has 2 solar power projects, 1 wind power project and 4 hydropower projects.

In the first quarter of 2023, HDG's net revenue reached VND956 billion, up nearly 40% over the same period and after-tax profit reached more than VND357 billion, up 21% over the same period last year. Notably, HDG's revenue contribution in this quarter came from the energy sector with revenue of VND543 billion, up 13% over the same period in 2021, while real estate revenue only reached VND312 billion.

Similarly, Sao Mai Group Corporation (ASM) recorded VND3,050 billion in net revenue in the first quarter, down 5% year-on-year. Of which, ASM's revenue from real estate in the first quarter reached VND32 billion, down more than 71% year-on-year, while revenue from solar power reached VND196 billion, up more than 27% year-on-year.

Or Bamboo Capital Joint Stock Company (BCG) is known for a series of urban and resort real estate projects,... But BCG is also known as a renewable energy business enterprise when owning 5 solar power projects and 2 wind power projects.

It is known that Phu My solar power plant of Bamboo Capital has "reached the finish line" first among the projects that missed the preferential price (FIT price) when it became the earliest transitional project recognized for commercial operation (COD).
