Player Quoc Nguyen won the AIMAG 5 Gold Medal

Nguyen Quoc Nguyen defeated Cho Jae-ho in the three-cushion carom billiards final with a score of 40-19. This was a resounding victory for the player born in Pleiku (Gia Lai), because Cho had just won the prestigious Verhoeven Open championship in New York (USA). Meanwhile, Quoc Nguyen left the tournament in the qualifying round.

In the AIMAG 5 final, Quoc Nguyen started the game better, with many accurate shots to take a 15-9 lead. The Korean player gradually recovered the score, but Quoc Nguyen once again took the lead, including two shots that totaled 17 points.

That advantage helped him go straight to the finish line with a difference of 21 points, through 21 shots. This is the first gold medal for Vietnamese billiards at the Games. Also in this event, Tran Quyet Chien and Tran Le Anh Tuan received bronze medals.

While chess and billiards brought home valuable gold medals, swimming did not have a successful day. In the final of the women's 200m freestyle, Anh Vien only won a silver medal after 1 minute 56 seconds 06, losing to Sun Meichen by 0.49 seconds. The Chinese swimmer's time of 1 minute 55 seconds 57 was also a new record of the Games.

In the 100m backstroke final that took place immediately after, “Mermaid Tieu” did not bring home a medal, finishing fourth with a time of 59.42 seconds. The winner of this event was Au Hoi Shun Stephanie of Hong Kong (58.94 seconds).

The remaining swimming medal on September 24 belonged to Tran Duy Khoi in the men's 100m backstroke after 52.04 seconds. The 20-year-old swimmer finished third with a time of 52.04 seconds. This was also Duy Khoi's third bronze medal at the Games. In the men's 200m freestyle final, Nguyen Huu Kim Son finished sixth with a time of 1 minute 50.19 seconds.
