(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, in Con Cuong district, there has been a growing trend of families buying seeds or flower seedlings to plant during Tet. This movement has made the mountain town more beautiful.

Flowers are planted by Con Cuong people in front of their gardens. Only on an area of less than 30m2.2But the garden of Mrs. Trinh Thi Xuan's family in Vinh Hoan village, Bong Khe commune is full of colorful flowers with all kinds of flowers such as dahlias, gladiolus, chrysanthemums, ginseng...

Ms. Xuan said, "The family grows flowers to add to the spring atmosphere. Taking care of the flowers together is both fun and strengthens family ties. The flowers last longer, saving money on buying flowers."

Sharing the same concept, for many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong's family in Vinh Hoan village has always grown flowers such as dahlias and gladiolus to "display" for Tet. She shared: Taking care of flowers has become her daily pleasure. After stressful working hours, she returns to her family and takes care of flower pots. This year, to add a Tet atmosphere to her family's small garden, she has planted some more flowers such as lilies, ginseng, and sedum. Many types of flowers bloom beautifully and everyone who comes to visit compliments them, and there are flowers to enjoy for many months after Tet, unlike buying a vase to display for three days of Tet and then withering.

Some households in Con Cuong also grow flowers for business. A typical example is the family of Mrs. Pham Thi Xuan, Lien Tan village, Bong Khe commune..Initially, on an area of 300m2, her family invested in planting 10,000 chrysanthemums and nearly 1,000 gladiolus bulbs. After more than 3 months of planting and caring for the flowers, they grew well. In the first season, with the selling price at that time of 3,000 VND/chrysanthemum branch, 7,000 - 8,000 VND/gladiolus branch, after deducting expenses, the profit was over 15 million VND.

This year, her family only invested in planting 3,800 gladiolus bulbs in red, yellow, and white colors to sell during Tet. Ms. Xuan said: "Gladiolus requires more care than other types of flowers. Learning from last year's flower crop, this year I planted the flowers in 3 batches, starting from the end of the 9th lunar month to the 10th of the 10th lunar month. In order for the flowers to bloom in time for Tet, in addition to planting at the right time and technique, the weather plays a very important role. Currently, the flowers are growing well."

In addition to growing flowers, currently in Con Cuong district, there are also households growing peach, kumquat, and orchids. These are new models that Con Cuong farmers have boldly put into practice and have shown clear effectiveness, opening up a direction for the development of ornamental plant growing in the mountainous district./.
