Con Cuong: Growing clean vegetables using high technology

(Baonghean.vn) - Aiming at the goal of producing clean food for tourism, Con Cuong has implemented a project to develop safe vegetables and build a model for producing clean vegetables and fruits.

The pioneer in growing clean vegetables and melons is Chi Khe Seedling Agricultural Cooperative. With the thoughtful and serious investment of the Cooperative, up to now, Con Cuong district has supported members of Chi Khe Seedling Agricultural Cooperative with 85% of the cost to build a net house system, ensure light, temperature, automatic drip irrigation system according to high technology, train and test the cultivation of American melon varieties.

According to the process, the melons are grown and cared for in coconut pulp pots mixed with organic fertilizer and drip irrigation. All are brought into a greenhouse to ensure they are disease-free.

If the model is successful, the product will be consumed by the Fruit Import-Export Company. After the American melon variety, Chi Khe Seedling Agricultural Cooperative will cultivate many other varieties of vegetables, tubers, and fruits to ensure propagation for farmers in the area.

From there, it helps farmers to be proactive in the source of vegetable and fruit seeds, and can be planted outside the greenhouse as usual. This is a good sign for the bold application of new technical methods and investment in high technology to improve agricultural efficiency in the mountainous district of Con Cuong.

By 2020, Con Cuong strives to develop vegetable production in a specialized direction to bring high income, linking production with processing and product consumption and contributing significantly to the economic structure of the district.

With a model of cooperation between the state, farmers and businesses, the clean vegetable growing project aims to provide safe vegetables and fruits for people as well as tourists to feel secure when coming to Con Cuong.

The total investment cost of the project to develop safe vegetables according to VietGap standards in the period 2016-2020 in Con Cuong is over 1 billion VND, with Con Cuong district as the investor.
