Child working in Japan had his Facebook hacked, mother in Nghe An was scammed of 38 million VND
(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, Ms. Thai Thi H. and Mr. Nguyen Tho S. in Ngoc Lien hamlet, Kim Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) lost 38 million VND just because they believed an online scammer.
According to Ms. Thai Thi H: At about 9:00 p.m. on September 8, 2020, her daughter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ng. wentlabor export in japan, sent a message via Facebook Messenger saying that she urgently needed VND38 million to lend to a co-worker at the company. Ms. Ng. said that her friend was in a very difficult situation and needed the money urgently while her family was poor and could not manage it. She and her husband were also suspicious and video called their child via Messenger to verify.

Nguyen Thi Ng. called back via video but the image was blurry and the voice was unclear. Then Nguyen Thi Ng. said that the network here was weak so I could only text. Ng. said, "Mom, send it to their account number and then take a picture of the receipt for me."
Hearing her son's message that after finishing the work, his friend would return the money in full. Thinking that her son was living in a foreign land and needed friends to help him in difficult times, Mrs. Thai Thi H. and Mr. Nguyen Tho S. decided to follow their son's wishes.
On the morning of September 9, Ms. Thai Thi H. brought 38 million VND saved from selling buffaloes to the Yen Thanh town post office to send to the account number sent via Facebook Messenger of her daughter. After sending the money, Ms. H. texted her daughter to ask if she had received the money, but Ng.'s Facebook account was turned off and she could not be contacted. Only then did Ms. H. realize she had been scammed.
On the same day, September 9, Ms. Thai Thi H. reported the incident to Yen Thanh District Police. Here, Yen Thanh Police informed Ms. H. that her daughter Nguyen Thi Ng.'s Facebook account had been hacked tofraud and appropriation of property
Currently, Yen Thanh District Police are coordinating with relevant units to investigate and expand the case.
