Initial information said that at around 2:00 p.m. on May 2, when Mr. Tran TT (born in 1974, residing in Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh province) was harvesting rice for hire for people in Loc Nham village, Dong Loi commune, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province, he was suddenly attacked by 3 young men carrying knives and swords., iron pipe rushed into the field to assault.
The group of thugs beat Mr. T. so badly that he had to be hospitalized. Not stopping there, while Mr. T. was being treated at Trieu Son District General Hospital, the group of thugs also called many more people to the hospital to attack him. Fortunately, at that time, the Trieu Son District Police were present so the group left.
Previously, at noon on April 28, Mr. Nguyen D.H (born in 1965, residing in Dong Loi commune), who was harvesting rice with Mr. T., was attacked by the three thugs, causing injuries to Mr. H's face and head.
"I was using a combine harvester to harvest rice for the villagers when a group of three tattooed men used knives, swords and iron pipes to assault me and threatened to forbid me from harvesting rice in the village. If I continued to harvest, they would kill me," said Mr. H.
According to Mr. H., after that incident, he reported the incident to Dong Loi Commune Police and Trieu Son District Police.
The Chief of Dong Loi Commune Police said that upon receiving information from Mr. Nguyen D.H, the commune police promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. Initially, through investigation, the police verified that one of the thugs had a permanent residence in the locality.
It is known that in recent years, in many districts of Quang Xuong, Nong Cong, Tho Xuan, Trieu Son... (Thanh Hoa), there has been a situation where many tattooed thugs stand up to protect rice harvesters. If anyone wants to harvest rice in the fields, they have to "pay" protection money, otherwise they will be assaulted and beaten.
Although the police in some localities have arrested many groups of thugs and prosecuted them, this situation has not been completely resolved, causing dissatisfaction among the people and confusion among honest workers.
