"Fake daughter" texted on Facebook to trick her mother into taking 40 million VND
Seeing a message from her daughter abroad asking for tuition money on Facebook, without any suspicion, Ms. Binh immediately borrowed 40 million to send to her daughter. When her Facebook was blocked, Ms. Binh realized that she had been scammed.
On October 18, Ms. Tran Thi Binh (residing in Trung Son village, Xuan Vien commune, Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh) said that she has filed a complaint with the police to investigate the case of a person who stole her daughter's Facebook account and swindled her out of 40 million VND.
According to Ms. Binh, her daughter has been studying and working in Japan for a year now. Every time she needs to pay tuition, her daughter usually texts or calls her mother to ask her to transfer the money.

It gave me an account number named Nguyen Tu Hung 65210001247893 of BIDV Bank and told me to deposit money there and then this person would transfer the money to my child. I didn't doubt it and deposited the money right away." Ms. Binh said.
After sending the money, Ms. Binh could not call her daughter because her Facebook was blocked. When Ms. Binh called her daughter, she said she did not text her mother to ask for money and that her Facebook account had been lost at noon.
