In a June 24 ruling, New York District Court Judge Katherine Forrest rejected a request from Ivanka Trump that she be excused from testifying in the case due to time constraints.

"Ms. Trump has limited time... but the fact is that she is personally involved in the litigation," Forrest wrote in a three-page ruling, according to AFP. "Therefore, she cannot refrain from testifying." The court limited Ivanka's testimony to two hours and the proceedings will take place in Washington in October.

Italian luxury shoe brand Aquazzura filed a lawsuit last year against Ivanka and her manufacturer, Marc Fisher Footwear, for trademark infringement, unfair competition and fraud.

Aquazzura accused Ivanka of "copying almost every detail," from the shape to the toe cover, of the brand's famous "Wild Thing" shoe. Marc Fisher Footwear denied the accusation.

The "Wild Thing" shoe was an instant success upon its launch, worn by celebrities including actress Jamie Chung, singer Solange Knowles and model Kendall Jenner. The "Wild Thing" retails for $785. Meanwhile, Ivanka's "Hettie" shoe, which Aquazzura accused of plagiarism, retails for $145.
