Addict gets 24 months in prison for drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 24, Tan Ky District People's Court opened the first instance trial of Nguyen Quoc Bien (born in 1975), residing in Hamlet 10, Nghia Hanh Commune, Tan Ky District, for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".
According to the indictment, at around 8:00 a.m. on September 7, 2016, Nguyen Quoc Bien became addicted to drugs and asked a passerby for a ride to Tan Ky town. He then took a bus to Do Luong district to buy drugs for 400,000 VND from a young man (identity and address unknown).

Bien went down to the Bara bridge (Do Luong) to take out some to use, the rest Bien put in his pocket and took the bus back to Tan Ky town. At around 11 o'clock the same day, when Bien arrived at the Ho Chi Minh trail area in block 6, Tan Ky town, he was administratively checked by the Tan Ky district police force. At this time, Bien took the package from his pocket and threw it on the street, the working group asked Bien to pick it up for inspection. Checking inside the package that Bien threw on the street, there was a white powder suspected to be heroin, so the Tan Ky district police made a record and seized all the evidence.
In conclusion No. 1024/KL-PC54 (MT) dated September 8, 2016 of the Criminal Techniques Department of Nghe An Provincial Police, it was concluded that the white powder seized from Nguyen Quoc Bien and sent for examination was a drug (Heroin) weighing 0.15 grams.
At the investigation agency, Nguyen Quoc Bien confessed to all of his crimes consistent with the evidence collected in the case file.
It is known that in 2013, Tan Ky District People's Court sentenced Bien to 30 months in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
The above criminal act of defendant Nguyen Quoc Bien constitutes the crime of “Illegal possession of narcotics”. The jury sentenced Nguyen Quoc Bien to 24 months in prison.
