Chu Prong District Police said that Gia Lai Provincial Police decided to temporarily detain Ngo Van Quang (born in 1982, from Ha Nam) to investigate the act of "theft of property".
Previously, at around 1:00 p.m. on November 28, Mr. Hoang Van Hung's family (residing in Chu Prong town) reported the loss of 7 kilograms of gold (26 pieces of 9-year-old 8-year-old gold, total value of about 7 billion VND) which had been hidden quite carefully under the tiles in the bedroom.

The initial investigation did not yield many clues, so the police focused their suspicions on Mr. Hung's family members. At this time, the police discovered that Mr. Hung's son-in-law, Quang, had gone missing at the same time he reported the theft.
According to Mr. Hung's statement, when he hid the gold, Quang was the one who was asked to borrow the tile cutter. Through the investigation, the police found that Quang was currently being treated at the psychiatric department of a hospital in Hanoi.
The psychiatric assessment results showed that Quang's health was completely normal and he was eligible for discharge.
At the investigation agency, Quang confessed that on November 27, 2016, due to a conflict with his wife, he stole all the gold after accidentally discovering that his father-in-law had buried it in the bedroom.
After that, Quang sold 5 pieces of gold for 780 million VND and sent it all to his brother in Hanoi.
After hearing the news of Quang's arrest, the brother brought all of his belongings back to the police and the victim's family received them all back./.
