In a statement, London police chief Stuart Cundy said 37 people were currently being treated in hospital, including 17 in a critical condition.
On the same day, British Prime Minister Theresa May visited the scene of the fire and directly participated in directing the rescue work.
Meanwhile, firefighters are racing against time to try to completely extinguish the fire, search for survivors, and recover bodies. Search dogs have also been deployed to assist in the search.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It is known that there were about 600 people present in this apartment building in West London when the fire broke out.
London Fire Brigade chief Dany Cotton said firefighters were unable to gain access to the entire flat due to structural safety concerns and had only searched about half the building in “detail”. “Sadly, we do not expect to find any more survivors,” Cotton said.
More than £1 million (about $1.27 million) has been raised to help victims of the fire, while volunteers and charities have found temporary accommodation and provided food for those who lost their homes in the fire./.
