The major river in Nghe An is overflowing with trash.
(Baonghean.vn) - For many years, the Dinh River section passing through Quy Hop district has suffered serious pollution from household waste due to people indiscriminately dumping waste into the river. Meanwhile, the local authorities have yet to find a solution to definitively stop this situation.

Following the road along the Dinh River, at the border between Chau Dinh commune and Quy Hop town during the dry season, one cannot help but be shocked by the piles of garbage dumped in the middle of the river.
From solid waste to sacks of household garbage, people are dumping waste indiscriminately, obstructing the flow of the Dinh River and causing environmental pollution.
"Every night, people from all over bring their trash and dump it right at the Chau Dinh bridge area. During the hot season, the stench is unbearable. We residents have complained at many meetings, but we haven't seen any solution to definitively resolve the issue."
In the Hop Thanh area of Quy Hop town, residents have created their own trails from National Highway 48D down to the Dinh River for convenient garbage disposal, turning the area where the water flows into a garbage dump in the middle of the river.

Regarding this situation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quynh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Hop town, confirmed that the town government is aware of the problem of people dumping household waste into the Dinh River. The People's Committee has repeatedly propagated and encouraged people to raise their awareness of environmental protection and not to dump waste indiscriminately, but the problem has not yet been completely resolved.

"Currently, we are deploying forces to detect and handle cases of illegal dumping into the Dinh River; at the same time, we are encouraging people to report those who intentionally dump garbage illegally," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quynh added.

Mr. Le Sy Hao, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quy Hop district, said: "Given the situation of people dumping garbage into the Dinh River, the District People's Committee has directed and assigned Chau Dinh commune and the town to be responsible for preventing people from dumping garbage into the Dinh River."
"The current difficulty is that the construction of the Quy Hop district's waste disposal site is progressing slowly. Currently, only the road infrastructure is complete, and the main electrical infrastructure is still under construction. Once the waste disposal site is completed and put into operation, the problem of waste being dumped into the Dinh River will be solved," Mr. Le Sy Hao added.

In addition to raising awareness and encouraging compliance, it is time for the local government to take strong measures to restore the cleanliness of the Dinh River.

Nghe An: Many localities lack funds for waste collection.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to reports from Vinh City, Cua Lo, Hung Nguyen, etc., most of the waste discharged into the environment is overwhelming, but there is a lack of funding to pay for collection and processing.
