Professor Nguyen Lan Dung's son elected to the National Assembly

In the list of 496 people elected to the 14th National Assembly, there is the son of Professor - Doctor Nguyen Lan Dung (Hanoi).

That is Mr. Nguyen Lan Hieu. Mr. Hieu (born in 1972) is an Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine, and Cardiologist. In his declaration of candidacy for the National Assembly, Mr. Nguyen Lan Hieu said that he is currently a Lecturer, Deputy Head of the Cardiology Department of Hanoi Medical University; Deputy Director of the Cardiology Center of Hanoi Medical University Hospital; Deputy Head of Department C5 - Cardiology Institute - Bach Mai Hospital; Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Cardiology Association; Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Association.

Mr. Nguyen Lan Hieu was nominated by the Vietnam Medical Association to run for the 14th National Assembly. After passing 3 rounds of consultation, he was introduced to An Giang province to run. In the election on May 22, 2016, Mr. Hieu won 63.62% of the votes.

Previously, answering the press about his candidacy for the National Assembly, Mr. Nguyen Lan Hieu said: If he is trusted by voters to become a National Assembly member, he will attend all meetings and plenary sessions of the National Assembly to directly discuss and give opinions to protect the interests of the voters he represents. Along with that, he will regularly meet voters before and after National Assembly sessions to listen, receive and honestly reflect the opinions of the people and at the same time disseminate important information of the recent National Assembly sessions.

When there are major irregularities in political and social life, he will directly come to investigate even if it is not the time to arrange regular meetings with voters. He will also receive citizens according to the provisions of the law. When receiving complaints, denunciations, and petitions from citizens, he will be responsible for studying, promptly forwarding them to competent authorities for resolution, urging, monitoring, and supervising the resolution.

Mr. Nguyen Lan Hieu believes that fighting for the practical rights of voters to improve the material and spiritual life of the people... is an important and long-term goal.

By being elected to the National Assembly, Mr. Hieu has followed in the tradition of his father, Professor Nguyen Lan Dung. Professor Nguyen Lan Dung was a member of the National Assembly for the 10th, 11th and 12th terms. During his parliamentary activities, Professor Nguyen Lan Dung has made a deep impression on many voters with his sharp and straightforward comments and questions.
