Coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh's son becomes assistant coach of Saigon FC.

To prepare for the 2018 season, Saigon FC decided to strengthen its coaching staff. Specifically, Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, who has many years of experience in youth development, was appointed as an assistant to Coach Duc Thang at the Southern team.

Although he has never worked in the V.League, Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong is not an unfamiliar name in the Vietnamese coaching scene. The young coach from Nghe An is known for his many years of experience leading and achieving success with the youth teams of SLNA, Hanoi, Viettel, and SHB Da Nang.

The son of veteran coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh once led the SLNA U17 team, featuring players like Phi Son, Hoang Thinh, Khac Ngoc, Ngoc Hai, etc., to victory in the 2008 National U17 Championship, the Bong Da Newspaper Cup. In 2015, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong continued to lead the Viettel U17 team to the runner-up position in the same tournament.

Despite his young age, the coach from Nghe An is highly regarded for his expertise and eagerness to learn. Coach Thanh Cong has just completed a professional coaching course organized by the AFC, alongside renowned senior colleagues such as Huynh Duc, Huu Thang, Hoang Van Phuc, Phan Thanh Hung, Duc Thang, etc.

With the addition of the young coach from Nghe An province to the coaching staff, Coach Duc Thang has gained a valuable assistant to help him achieve important goals in the 2018 season.

Besides introducing their new "deputy," in the next few days, Saigon FC will also officially introduce their new president, replacing their predecessor, Nguyen Giang Dong, who recently stepped down. Preparing for the 2018 season, Coach Duc Thang and his team have regrouped since the beginning of January. Saigon FC has not undergone many personnel changes, with the core team remaining largely unchanged.
