A source close to the Khashoggi family told CNN that Salah Khashoggi and his family boarded a plane to Washington, DC, on October 25.

Two days earlier, Saudi Arabia's King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with the son and relatives of the ill-fated journalist to offer condolences.

Salah Khashoggi, a dual US and Saudi citizen, was banned from leaving Riyadh several months ago. A US State Department spokesperson said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had urged Saudi officials to allow Salah Khashoggi to leave the kingdom.

Mr. Salah is the eldest son of a journalist and political analyst at the Washington Post. Recently, Saudi Arabian officials admitted that Mr. Khashoggi died in the country's consulate in Istanbul, Türkiye. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed that he had no involvement in the incident and said that this was done by his subordinates.
