Son hired thugs to chase 90-year-old mother out into the street

An old woman in India has 7 children but they all consider her a "liability" and no one wants to give her a place to live.

Last weekend, an old woman was lying on the side of the road with a fever, making everyone who witnessed it feel sorry and angry. The incident happened in the suburbs of Barasat (India). Police quickly arrested the son named Probal Acharya - the man who hired thugs to drag his mother out onto the road.

According to Gulfnews, even the police were shocked that his own son considered his mother a burden. Not only him, but none of his other six children gave their mother a place to live.

"This is an unbelievable situation where a son over 50 years old can throw his mother out on the street," an indignant police officer said.

All the houses where the seven children lived were built by the old couple. But when her husband passed away, the old woman was treated badly by her children.

According to sociologists, the problem of children abusing their elderly parents has become widespread in this country. The government has broadcast a program on television and radio warning people of legal consequences for mistreating the elderly. But the problem has continued to increase in recent years.

Human rights activist and lawyer Sukanya Goswami said many elderly people are physically abused: "In my area, an elderly man with a heart condition had his daughter keep the keys so that if he had a heart attack, he would have no medicine or anyone to take him to treatment. The daughter had previously forced her father to sign away all his assets belonging to her," Goswami said.
