Hanoi Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Habeco) has just sent a document reporting to the Inspection Team of the Central Inspection Committee on the appointment of officials, including the case of Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong, son of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh.

Accordingly, in the case of Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong (born in 1992, bachelor's degree in business administration, Queen Mary University - UK), Habeco said: Due to the need to recruit an assistant director position, in October 2015, Hanoi Alcohol Joint Stock Company (Halico), a member company of Habeco, interviewed and signed a probationary contract with Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong.

After a period of probation for Mr. Cuong at Halico, Habeco considered Mr. Cuong to be a young, dynamic officer with professional capacity suitable for market work. Based on the staff needs, the orientation of the Board of Directors and the company's Board of Directors on brand identity strategy, and the proposal of the professional department, Mr. Cuong was appointed as Deputy Head of Marketing Communications Department (April 1, 2016).

Then, on April 22, 2016, the Marketing Communications Department met and unanimously agreed to propose that Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong be in charge of this department. But up to now, Halico has not made an official decision.

Habeco notes: The reception and appointment of Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong is under the authority of Halico's Board of Directors. Habeco does not interfere or direct this appointment.

"The acceptance and appointment of Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong is in accordance with current regulations," Habeco assessed.

In the report sent to the Inspection Delegation of the Central Inspection Committee, Habeco also mentioned the case of appointing Mr. Mai Van Loi as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halico for the 3rd term (2016-2021) from April 15, 2016.

Habeco said that Mr. Mai Van Loi was received from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, the superior of PVC - the unit where Mr. Loi worked and also the company where Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh is being considered for responsibility for causing losses of thousands of billions of dong.

According to Habeco, Mr. Mai Van Loi was signed a labor contract by Halico's Board of Directors in November 2014 as Executive Director.

In March 2015, Diageo shareholders (holding 45.27% of shares) proposed to appoint Mr. Loi as Chairman of the Board of Directors because Mr. Loi is the "most suitable person to shoulder the strategic responsibility" and has had time to build, have a solid understanding of the operations and development orientation of Halico, leading the company to initially restore its position in the market.

In April 2015, Halico's Board of Directors officially passed a resolution approving the appointment of Mr. Mai Van Loi as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the term (2016-2021) from April 15, 2016.

Habeco said: "The reception and appointment of Mr. Mai Van Loi at Halico is under the authority of the Board of Directors and the General Meeting of Shareholders of Halico and the Corporation does not interfere in this appointment."

Habeco's explanatory report also stated that Halico donated 500 million VND to Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee to "implement policies to resolve difficulties for policy families and the poor".

Specifically, on March 13, 2015, Halico received a document from Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee on supporting the implementation of policies to resolve difficulties for policy families and the poor.

Habeco believes that: With the spirit of helping each other and the purpose of this charity support activity will contribute to increasing Halico's brand reputation, creating conditions for Halico to promote market development in the vast provinces of the Southwest, so the Director of Halico has a written report to the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors to hold a meeting, agreeing to support this amount of money from the Welfare Fund and the Charity Fund.

This amount has been transferred to Hau Giang province. The disbursed expenses (in 2015) include: Expenses for the Provincial Women's Union to hold a meeting with female cadres in rural areas (50 million VND); expenses for the Veterans' delegation to visit Uncle Ho's mausoleum (66 million VND)... the rest are expenses for building comrades' houses, repairing houses for veterans and 4 houses for poor households in Ke Sach district (Soc Trang) - Hebeco explained.
