On June 9, Yen Thanh District People's Court opened a trial of Tran Thi Kieu (born in 1982, residing in Hamlet 10, Vien Thanh Commune) for the crime of Intentional Infliction of Injury.

According to the indictment, because she suspected Ms. Kieu of having an illicit relationship with her husband, Ms. Dang Thi Huong (residing in Son Thanh commune) asked someone to call Ms. Kieu to come to her house to resolve the matter.

On the afternoon of January 12, 2017, Kieu was taken by her husband to Ms. Huong's house to resolve a jealousy dispute. Out of anger at being falsely accused, Kieu used a 15 cm long screwdriver that she had hidden in her person to stab Ms. Huong 9 times in a row.

Ms. Huong had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment and treated for a week at Dien Chau District General Hospital. The forensic examination results concluded that Ms. Huong suffered 0.5% health damage.

Yen Than District People's Court sentenced Tran Thi Kieu to 9 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and compensated Ms. Huong 14 million VND./.
