Nghe An police arrest suspect in scamming people by selling used cars at cheap prices.
Working as a used car dealer, but due to gambling losses and business failures, Nguyen Duy Phuc took money from many people who wanted to buy or sell cheap used cars, then defrauded them to pay off his debts.
On September 27th, the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police is temporarily detaining Nguyen Duy Phuc (born in 1997), residing in Van Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, for the crime of fraud and appropriation of property.

Nguyen Duy Phuc works in the used car trading business, so he frequently buys and sells cars with many people nationwide. Since the beginning of 2024, due to gambling losses and business failures leading to debts to many people, he conceived the idea of defrauding and appropriating property.
Accordingly, during the process of buying and selling used cars, Nguyen Duy Phuc received money from several people to purchase vehicles. However, he failed to acquire the cars as agreed and used the buyers' money to pay off debts. Unable to repay the money, Nguyen Duy Phuc resorted to various fraudulent schemes, such as sending images of cars similar to the customer's request and claiming they were being delivered, and sending fake money transfer receipts to deceive people into believing they had purchased the vehicles.

Knowing he was no longer able to repay his debts, after defrauding numerous customers nationwide by accepting investment funds for buying and selling cars, Nguyen Duy Phuc fled to Hanoi.
Through professional investigative measures, on September 20, 2024, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police arrested Nguyen Duy Phuc while he was hiding in Hanoi for the crime of fraud and appropriation of property.
At the police station, Nguyen Duy Phuc admitted to his crime.

Initially, the police have proven that, from January 2024 to July 2024 alone, using the aforementioned methods, Nguyen Duy Phuc defrauded numerous victims nationwide of more than 500 million VND.
The case is currently under further investigation.
