Nghe An police discovered a driver tested positive for drugs.
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 22, 2019, a working group of Nghe An Police discovered a taxi driver testing positive for drugs while traveling through the area.
On January 21, Nghe An Provincial Police established a working group to inspect and handle drivers of road motor vehicles violating the law by using drugs, alcohol, beer and stimulants.
The task force includes Traffic Police, Mobile Police and doctors from the Provincial Police Hospital. The task force is equipped with professional technical equipment and means to detect and handle drivers using stimulants, especially drugs.

On the second day of the campaign, the working group discovered a case of a taxi driver driving a 30A-152.27 taxi from Hanoi to Nghe An testing positive for drugs. The driver was identified as Dinh Ngoc Hieu (born in 1988, residing in Bach Dang ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi).
A quick drug test showed that driver Hieu tested positive for drugs. Hieu also admitted to previously using synthetic drugs and marijuana.
Up to this point, in Nghe An, there have been no serious traffic accidents related to drivers using drugs. However, the situation of drivers using drugs, alcohol and stimulants that pose a risk of causing accidents is still high and complicated.
Previously, through the 2018 periodic health check-up for drivers organized by the Nghe An Department of Transport in coordination with the Nghe An Automobile Transport Association, the authorities discovered 10 cases with positive results for drugs.
In 2017, after examining the health of 1,485 drivers, the authorities also discovered 10 drivers with signs of drug use. "The drivers who tested positive for drugs were all employees of long-distance transport companies, taxis, and passenger cars," said Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Head of the Department of Vehicle and Driver Management, Department of Transport.
According to the leader of Nghe An Provincial Police, the working group was established with the aim of raising awareness and self-discipline among traffic participants. Thereby, preventing and reducing traffic accidents, especially traffic accidents directly caused by alcohol concentration violations and drug use, especially before, during and after the 2019 Lunar New Year.
