Nghe An Police: Reward for the arrest of a woman who fled with 2 billion VND for 21 years

On March 13, Nghe An Provincial Police organized an award ceremony for the Criminal Enforcement and Judicial Support Police Department for their outstanding achievements in the arrest and safe transfer of three fugitives from the southern provinces to serve their sentences.

Previously, after 10 days of verifying and searching for the suspects, the Criminal Enforcement and Judicial Support Police Department of Nghe An Province in coordination with the Nhon Thanh Trung Commune Police, Tan An City, Long An Province arrested Bui Thi Lien (born in 1974), residing in Do Luong Town, Do Luong District, Nghe An, who was sentenced to 6 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An Province for the crime of Abuse of trust to appropriate property since 1997. The suspect was arrested while hiding in Tan An City.

Next, Nghe An Provincial Police coordinated with Ham Thuan Bac District Police, Binh Thuat Province, to arrest Nguyen Duc Loi (born in 1993), residing in Nghi Kieu Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province, who was sentenced to 12 months in prison by Nghi Loc District People's Court for the crime of Theft of Property; coordinated with Krong Buk District Police, Dak Lak Province to arrest Nguyen Dinh Duc (born in 1982), residing in Nam Anh Commune, Nam Dan District, Nghe An, who was sentenced to 6 months in prison by Nam Dan District People's Court for the crime of Gambling.

After being sentenced, taking advantage of being on bail, the above subjects fled the locality and were wanted nationwide by the enforcement agency.

Among them, Bui Thi Lien was a fugitive for 21 years after in 1997, she was sentenced to 6 years in prison by the Provincial People's Court for the crime of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".

In the mid-1990s, Bui Thi Lien and her mother Nguyen Thi Sau established a savings and credit association, attracting 7 members. When the amount of money contributed by the members reached more than 2 billion VND, Lien and her mother declared bankruptcy. Unable to collect the money, the members reported Lien and her mother to the police for investigation.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Sau was arrested, but Lien, who was nursing a 9-month-old child at the time, was released on bail to serve the investigation. A short time later, Lien left her child with her husband and fled the area...

Currently, the subjects are completing procedures to be taken to prisons to execute the court's sentence.
