Police discovered a 'mine warehouse' under workers' sleeping beds
The police have just discovered a company illegally storing nearly a quintal of emulsion explosives (mines) and 170 differential electric detonators, and 350 meters of detonating cord under workers' sleeping beds.
On November 28, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police coordinated with relevant units to inspect a worker's shed of Hoang Hanh Phuong Company Limited at the construction site of the road connecting the northern mountainous provinces (in Ban Hon commune, Tam Duong district) and discovered and temporarily detained nearly a ton ofexplosive(mines) and many related exhibits.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department verified: The project of the road connecting the Northern mountainous provinces (on Provincial Road 136) at Km 133, Ban Hon Commune, was constructed by the 68 Construction, Service and Trade Joint Stock Company (Hanoi). During the construction of the road expansion, Company 68 hired Hoang Hanh Phuong Company Limited, located at Group 18, Tan Phong Ward, Lai Chau City, with Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hanh as Director, to handle the roadbed.

Checking the scene, the authorities discovered that Hoang Hanh Phuong Company had signs of illegally using explosives, violating State regulations on explosives management, causing insecurity for those directly performing the construction as well as the community.
At 11:30 a.m. on November 28, authorities discovered that Hoang Hanh Phuong Company continued to use explosives to break rocks at Km133. The task force conducted an inspection at the scene, and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hanh could not present a license to use explosives.

The working group and related forces inspected the level 4 house that Mr. Hanh rented from local residents as a place for workers to live and discovered 84.4 kg of emulsion explosives, 170 differential electric detonators, and 350 meters of detonating cord hidden under a wooden bed.
Based on the nature of the incident, the Working Group has drawn up a record of the incident, temporarily seized the exhibits and handed over the people involved to the Criminal Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police for further investigation and strict handling of violations of the law.
