Police in Nghe An province have arrested a suspect who broke into a house, broke open a safe, and stole gold and money.
Despite having seven prior convictions for theft and gambling, Tran Tuan Anh continued to commit numerous burglaries, breaking into safes and stealing gold and money from people's homes in the wards of the former Vinh City, Nghe An province.
On October 22nd, the Criminal Police Department announced that they are temporarily detaining Tran Tuan Anh (born in 1998), residing in Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An province, for investigation into the act of theft.

Tran Tuan Anh is an unemployed individual with seven prior convictions for theft.gambleAt the end of 2024, having just finished serving his prison sentence for "theft of property," Tuan Anh reverted to his old ways, committing further thefts.
To commit crimes, Tuan Anh frequently wandered around the central wards of the former Vinh city to look for opportunities to steal. He would sell the stolen property at gold shops or pawn shops and use the money for personal expenses.
The police determined that between April and October 2025, Tran Tuan Anh committed five burglaries, breaking into safes and stealing gold and money in Vinh Loc, Truong Vinh, and Thanh Vinh wards (Nghe An province), with a total value of over 800 million VND.
For example, on May 17, 2025, Tran Tuan Anh broke into a resident's house in Thanh Vinh ward, then used a hammer to pry open a safe in the bedroom and stole 13 taels of gold and 3 million VND in cash. On October 15, 2025, Tran Tuan Anh broke into a resident's house in Truong Vinh ward, broke open a safe, and stole gold and cash worth more than 30 million VND.

Tran Tuan Anh employed numerous tactics to evade the police. After a period of surveillance, on October 19, 2025, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with the Provincial Police's professional departments, the Provincial Police Command Center, and the police forces of Vinh Loc, Truong Vinh, Thanh Vinh, and Vinh Hung wards, successfully cracked the case and arrested Tran Tuan Anh for theft.
Faced with irrefutable evidence, Tran Tuan Anh bowed his head and pleaded guilty. Items seized included: 1 gold necklace weighing 2.252g; 1 motorcycle; 1 mobile phone; 1 set of tools for breaking doors and locks; and other related items.
