Vinh City police seize 3.1 tons of granulated sugar with counterfeit labels.
(Baonghean.vn) - Today, October 3rd, the Environmental Police Team of Vinh City Police Department, in coordination with Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company, investigated the origin of a 3.1-ton shipment of refined white sugar.
Earlier, on October 2nd, the Environmental Police Team received a report that in the Cong Hoa block area, Vinh Tan ward, Vinh City, a truck with license plate 37C - 228.21 was secretly unloading a large quantity of white granulated sugar.

Authorities quickly arrived at the scene to inspect the vehicle and discovered 62 sacks containing white granulated sugar, totaling 3.1 tons, bearing the label of Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company.
When asked to present documents proving the origin of the shipment, Ms. Le Thi Tu (residing in Vinh City) - the owner of the shipment - could only produce one sales invoice from Ms. Le Thi Tuyen (residing in Dong Ha, Quang Tri).

Upon inspecting the shipment, representatives of Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company initially confirmed that the sugar in question was not a product manufactured by their company.
LAuthorities suspect that this sugar is from Thailand but was packaged in the packaging of Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company to evade taxes and deceive authorities.
