Police summon the subject who beat the reporter in Long An

Thanh Hoa District Police, Long An, have summoned those involved in the case of a reporter being assaulted while working at the Tam Sinh Nghia waste treatment plant.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Nho, head of Thanh Hoa District Police, said this morning that the unit has summoned those involved in the incident in which a reporter was assaulted while working at the Tam Sinh Nghia waste treatment plant.

Among them, there is Mr. Pham Van Dung (57 years old, residing in Hamlet 1, Tan Dong Commune, Thanh Hoa District), who is said to be the person who directly beat the reporters.

Previously, at around 8 am on September 27, 3 reporters Nguyen Thi Man (Long An Newspaper), Cao Thi Kim Ngan and Pham Duc Canh (Long An Radio and Television Station) came to investigate and record the people's angry opinions about the garbage factory directly discharging leachate from the garbage into Canal 3, Tan Dong Commune, Thanh Hoa District, causing environmental pollution.

While the reporter team was recording the scene at channel 3 (outside the factory area), 4 people came to threaten and prevent them from filming.

Two young men rushed in, knocked down and pinned reporter Pham Duc Canh to the ground. The two subjects continued to use their hands, feet, punches and kicks on reporter Canh's face and body.

These subjects also snatched the video camera from the hand of reporter Canh and took the memory card. At the same time, the 4 subjects continuously used threatening words on the 2 female reporters.

Immediately afterwards, the group of reporters went to Tan Dong Commune People's Committee to report.

On September 27, Chairman of the Long An Provincial Journalists Association and Director of Long An Radio and Television Station Pham Van Dung signed an official dispatch reporting the incident to the Provincial People's Committee and requesting that the authorities investigate and clarify the matter.

Currently, Thanh Hoa District Police are investigating and clarifying the case.
