Police summon people who dumped sick pigs on the roadside
(Baonghean.vn) - By extracting camera footage from local residents, the Xuan Binh Commune Police, Nhu Xuan District, Thanh Hoa, have verified and clarified the person who transported pigs suspected of being infected with the disease to the area bordering Nghe An Province.
On the morning of December 8, Mr. Trinh Xuan Son - Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Binh Commune, Nhu Xuan District (Thanh Hoa) said that the People's Committee of the commune had coordinated with the Nghia Lac Commune Police and the Nhu Xuan District Police (Thanh Hoa) to extract people's cameras and had verified and clarified the person transporting the suspected pig.infectedpoured into the border area with Nghe An province.

Accordingly, the working group of the Nhu Xuan District Police identified the person who dumped the above pigs as Mr. Le Van N. (born in 1969), residing in Hamlet 3, Phu Son Commune, Nghi Son Town (Thanh Hoa). During the investigation, Mr. N. confessed that on December 1, he bought 83 pigs from Phu Tho Province and brought them to his family's farm. On December 2, when feeding the pigs, Mr. N. discovered that the pigs showed signs of illness.
Fearing that the pigs would be infected with African swine fever, affecting surrounding farms and the pigs in his family's pen, Mr. N. did not report to the local authorities but transported the pigs to another place.

On the night of December 3, Mr. N. put 83 pigs in the trunk of his car and drove along Nghi Son - Bai Tranh road. When he arrived at village 13, Xuan Binh commune (Nhu Xuan), seeing that the area was deserted, Mr. N. dumped the pigs and turned the car around to go home. This isborder areabetween Nghia Lac commune, Nghia Dan district and hamlet 13, Xuan Binh commune, Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province.
Currently, Nhu Xuan District Police are continuing to verify to have a direction for handling according to the provisions of law.

It is known that before that, at around 5 to 6 am on December 3, in the area bordering Nghia Lac commune with hamlet 13, Xuan Binh commune, Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province, people discovered a herd of nearly 100 pigs abandoned on the side of the road, including 5 dead pigs, estimated to weigh 30 - 40 kg/pig.
After receiving the information, Nghia Lac commune coordinated with the People's Committee of Xuan Binh commune, Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa to collect and disinfect the area where the dead pigs were found, to avoid the risk of a large-scale outbreak of African swine fever. At the same time, the two communes set up a 24/7 quarantine checkpoint. This is a location bordering Thanh Hoa, with a sparse population.
