Announcement of the Decision to appoint 2 Vice Presidents of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences

On the afternoon of March 17, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision on appointing Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Nhat Quang and Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Nguyen Anh to the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.

Two Vice Presidents of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences received the Prime Minister's appointment decision.

Mr. Bui Nhat Quang, born in 1975, graduated from Hanoi National Economics University (1995). In 2012, he was recognized by the State Council of Professors as Associate Professor of Economics.

Mr. Bui Nhat Quang used to hold the position of Director of the Institute of African and Middle Eastern Studies, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; concurrently Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of African and Middle Eastern Studies; Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province.

In January 2016, at the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Mr. Bui Nhat Quang was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee.

Mr. Dang Nguyen Anh, born in 1961, graduated from Hanoi National Economics University (1983). Mr. Dang Nguyen Anh was appointed Associate Professor and Senior Researcher by the State Council of Professors in 2006 with expertise in social security, migration and resettlement.

Mr. Dang Nguyen Anh used to hold the positions of Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Editor-in-Chief of Sociology Magazine; Director of the Institute of Sociology.

Speaking at the assignment of tasks to the two new Vice Presidents, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences emphasized: Comrade Bui Nhat Quang and Comrade Dang Nguyen Anh both grew up at the Academy, having experienced many positions, from a research officer to managing scientific units. In the assigned positions and responsibilities, both comrades always affirmed their steadfast political will, creativity in work, and exemplary behavior. In particular, both comrades have participated in the Senior Cadre Reserve Training Course, truly being the "nucleus" of the Academy's leadership. This shows that both comrades have been carefully prepared to take on new tasks. This is a success of the Academy in discovering, training, and fostering high-quality cadres.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang stated: The transfer and appointment of two Vice Presidents of the Academy this time shows the special attention of the Party and State; the recognition and appreciation of the important contributions and dedication of each individual comrade; at the same time, he believes that in their new positions and responsibilities, Comrade Bui Nhat Quang and Comrade Dang Nguyen Anh will continue to promote their achievements and results, actively contribute their strength, intelligence and valuable experience to the collective of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences to grow stronger and stronger, becoming one of the two leading scientific centers in the country, on par with the region and the world.

In their inauguration speeches, the two new Vice Presidents Bui Nhat Quang and Dang Nguyen Anh were moved and expressed their deep gratitude for the trust they had in electing them to hold high positions and said that this was both a glorious and equally heavy task for them personally and for the Academy; at the same time, they promised that in their new positions, they would unite with their comrades in the Academy Party Committee and lead the Academy to excellently complete the new tasks assigned by the Party and State./.
