Announcement of the establishment of the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve
(Baonghean) - On the morning of June 23rd, in Que Phong district, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with the People's Committee of Que Phong district, announced Decision No. 340/QD-UBND to transform the Que Phong District Protective Forest Management Board into the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve in Que Phong district.
Attending the event were Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; and Que Phong district.
The Pù Hoạt Nature Reserve covers a total area of over 90,000 hectares, encompassing nine communes: Tri Lễ, Tiền Phong, Thông Thụ, Hạnh Dịch, Nậm Giải, Đồng Văn, Nậm Nhóng, Cắm Muộn, and Châu Thôn. Surveys currently show that the Pù Hoạt Nature Reserve is home to 763 plant species belonging to 427 genera and 142 families, with over 30 species listed in the Vietnamese Red Book. It also boasts 176 vertebrate species belonging to four classes: mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.
The establishment of the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve will contribute to the protection and organization of scientific research, promoting the unique natural values, ecosystem models, biodiversity, biological genetic resources, historical and cultural relics, landscapes, and the provision of forest environmental services.
According to the establishment decision of the Provincial People's Committee, the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve will have 1 director who also serves as the head of the forest protection unit, 2 deputy directors, and 35 staff members.
