Announcing and awarding membership cards to the Journalists Association for the period 2016 - 2021

On the afternoon of December 20, the Vietnam Journalists Association solemnly held a ceremony to announce the decision and award membership cards for the first phase of the 2016-2021 period to veteran journalists and leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association through the periods.

Comrade Thuan Huu, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association attended the announcement ceremony and awarded membership cards to veteran journalists, former leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association through the periods: Journalist Phan Quang, journalist Ha Dang, journalist Do Phuong. Journalists Vu Van Hien, Phan Khac Hai, Le Quoc Trung, Ha Minh Hue were also awarded membership cards in the first batch.

As of December 2016, the Vietnam Journalists Association has 277 Association-level units under the Central Association, including: 63 Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations; 18 Inter-Associations, 196 Associations under the Central Association with 24,334 members. At this time, through careful review of the application files for membership card renewal and issuance sent by the Associations at all levels, there are 19,233 cases eligible for membership card renewal. This shows that the Associations at all levels have carefully reviewed each case, resolutely eliminating those who do not meet the requirements to become members.

The renewal of membership cards for the 2016-2021 period is closely combined with the review and consolidation of the grassroots organization of the Association from the Central to the local levels, along with the organization of the Congresses of the Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations, the Inter-Associations and the Branches directly under the Central Association.

Up to now, the process of receiving documents, updating membership card data has been completed and the first batch of 6,000 cards has been printed. After announcing the Decision to issue membership cards for the 2016-2021 period and handing over the first batch of cards to the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association through the periods, the cards will continue to be handed over to the following units: Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Hanoi Journalists Association and the Association branches: Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Information and Communications, Central Agency of the Association, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Industry and Trade Newspaper, Finance sector, Banking sector, and then it will be deployed to all levels of the Association nationwide.
