Video released of Russia sending Su-27 aircraft to “chase” US B-52s away from the border
The Russian Defense Ministry released a video on Thursday showing Russian Su-27s escorting US B-52 strategic bombers over the Baltic Sea.
The 10-second video was posted on the Ministry of Defense's Youtube channel.
Russian airspace control tools detected the target at a considerable distance from the Russian border and decided to escort the aircraft, the video commentary said.
Two Su-27 fighter jets from the air defense task force took off to identify and escort the US aircraft.
"After the B-52H strategic bombers changed their flight trajectory away from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighters returned to their home airfields," the report said.
