| One scene in the film series tells the story of a girl who overcomes prejudice, studies mechanics, and proves that she is not inferior to anyone in her class. |
Speaking at the event, held on the afternoon of June 30th at Kim Dong Cinema (19 Hang Bai Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hoa stated that the project aims to integrate gender equality and sustainable employment into the development and implementation of laws and policies on labor and social security, contributing to the implementation of the National Socio-Economic Development Strategy and Plan until 2020 and fulfilling relevant international commitments.
Vietnam has achieved many outstanding accomplishments in the field of gender equality and empowering women. However, women are often vulnerable to poverty and economic shocks because the majority work in the informal sector due to a lack of vocational skills and low wages.
Furthermore, they remain a disadvantaged group in terms of enjoying social security policies, with low social insurance participation rates and limited opportunities for vocational training and access to credit.
The project's theme focuses on five issues: work-life balance; the gender wage gap; equal opportunities in vocational education; gender equality in higher education; and gender equality in the 2014 Social Insurance Law (new).
Accordingly, the series focuses on the five issues mentioned above, in which the characters express their views; thereby suggesting that policymakers, workers, and employers need to work together to promote gender equality in the workplace.
"Women can study architecture or mechanical engineering; women can become leaders and earn a commensurate salary; self-employed workers have the right to participate in social insurance to provide for their old age" are some of the ideas from this film series.
