Which civil servants and public employees are paid for their travel expenses when returning home for Tet?
According to regulations, officials, civil servants and public employees returning home for Tet can have their train and bus fares paid.
Specifically, Article 9, Decree 76/ND-CP, dated October 8, 2019, stipulates policies for cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and salary earners in the armed forces working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions as follows:
During the working period in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, the subjects specified in Article 2 of this Decree, when taking annual leave, holidays, Tet, or personal leave, in addition to the salary received according to the provisions of law, shall also be paid for train and car fare to and from home to visit their families according to regulations.

Article 2, Decree 76/ND-CP, dated October 8, 2019 stipulates the subjects of application as follows:
Cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in agencies, organizations, and units of the Party, State, and socio-political organizations from the central level to communes, wards, and towns (hereinafter referred to as commune level) and salary earners in the armed forces (including cases of mobilization, secondment, rotation, and regardless of local people and people from other places) who have been classified as having salaries according to the salary table prescribed by competent agencies of the Party and State, who are working and coming to work in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, including:
1. Cadres, civil servants, and public employees (including interns) in agencies, organizations, and public service units of the Party, State, and socio-political organizations from the central to communal levels;
2. People working under labor contracts in agencies and units of the Party, the State, and socio-political organizations prescribed in Decree No. 68/2000/ND-CP dated November 17, 2000 of the Government on implementing the contract regime for certain types of work in State administrative agencies and public service units and Decree No. 161/2018/ND-CP dated November 29, 2018 of the Government amending and supplementing a number of regulations on recruitment of civil servants and public employees, promotion of civil servants, promotion of public employees and implementation of the contract regime for certain types of work in State administrative agencies and public service units;
3. Officers, professional soldiers, workers, defense officials, and contract workers receiving salaries from the State budget of the Vietnam People's Army;
4. Officers, non-commissioned officers receiving salaries, police workers and contract workers receiving salaries from the State budget belonging to the People's Public Security;
5. People working in key organizations;
6. People working within the staffing quota in associations receiving State budget support for operating expenses as prescribed in Decree No. 45/2010/ND-CP dated April 21, 2010 of the Government regulating the organization, operation and management of associations and Decree No. 33/2012/ND-CP dated April 13, 2012 of the Government amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 45/2010/ND-CP dated April 21, 2010 of the Government regulating the organization, operation and management of associations.
Officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers such as teachers, doctors, etc. working in remote areas will have their train and bus fares paid when returning home for Tet./.
