Russian citizen pleads guilty to hacking
Russian citizen Piotr Levashov has pleaded guilty to hacking in the United States, the US Justice Department reported.

"Mr. Levashov appeared before Robert Chatigni, a district judge, and pleaded guilty to one count of criminal mischief - 'causing damage to a protected personal computer', one count of conspiracy, fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft," the press release said.
The trial was held in Hartford, Connecticut.
Assistant Attorney General Brian Benchkovski said that for 20 years, Mr. Levashov managed botnets that allowed him to collect personal information from infected computers, send spam and distribute viruses used for fraud.
At the same time, prosecutor John Durham noted that the Russian had "lived quite comfortably, while his crimes ruined the lives of thousands of computer users."
Levashov's sentencing is scheduled for September 6, 2019, until then, the Russian citizen is in custody.
In April, lawyer Igor Litvak said that Levashov's trial would begin in December.
