(Baonghean.vn) - With the attention of previous generations and the care of parents, Nghe An Trade Unions at all levels have created many practical activities to reach out to future generations.

For a safe summer for children

At the opening ceremony of swimming classes for children of officials, civil servants, public employees and workers, Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Mai - Vice PresidentCivil Servants' UnionNghe An province has shared its concerns about the problem of drowning in children during the summer. In her speech, the female union leader emphasized: “Drowning accidents during the summer are an uncontrollable problem, and the loss leaves immense pain for families and society. With its small contributions, Nghe An Civil Servants’ Union hopes to be able to join hands to limit and push back this problem in the most practical way.”

Words go hand in hand with actions. In recent years, the Nghe An Civil Servants' Union and the Nghe An Provincial Labor Culture House have signed a welfare program on organizing 3swimming classfor children of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers who are union members and currently working at grassroots unions under the Nghe An Civil Servants' Union. This year, this swimming skill course worth 1 million VND is subsidized by the Nghe An Civil Servants' Union and the Provincial Labor Culture House, reduced to 600,000 VND/course. This meaningful course and practical welfare program has attracted the participation of nearly 90 students aged 7 and above. The class is divided into 2 shifts, the morning session from 5:00 to 6:30 a.m. and the afternoon session from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., taking place for 15 consecutive days.

Right after the opening ceremony, under the guidance of the coaches, the children immediately learned basic knowledge about drowning prevention, water safety skills and safe drowning rescue methods.

In his sharing, swimming instructor Dong Quang Vinh said: “The course not only helps children master swimming skills but also equips them with knowledge and skills to prevent drowning and injuries. In addition, the course is also an opportunity for children to practice health, courage, exchange, make friends, unite, and support each other. To encourage children to participate fully, seriously, and on time, the teachers and teachers also have rewards for those who are most diligent and progressive in the course.”

When it comes to the rewards, the children's faces brightened up, and each child enthusiastically volunteered to answer the coach's questions. Patiently watching her son Nguyen Minh Triet boldly participate in the role-playing question of seeing someone drowning, Ms. Le Thi Luyen - a member of the Market Management Department's Union shared: "Minh Triet used to learn to swim and really loves swimming, but he only swims instinctively, not systematically. That's why, when I heard about the course, I immediately registered him. For my family, this welfare program brings "benefits" to both parents and children. With a very preferential cost, parents can rest assured when sending their children to professional teachers, and children are happy to have a useful and safe summer playground. Not only the children, but also the parents themselves feel happy and useful when listening to the knowledge shared by the teachers."

Not only the Civil Servants' Union, the Vinh City Labor Federation has also exploited its operating location to build a similar welfare program for children of union members and employees. The course quickly received the participation of many union members' children.

Sharing about this welfare program, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Director of Nghe An Provincial Labor Culture House said: “During the past 2 years of the pandemic, despite great efforts to complete activities, many of our programs were still affected and interrupted. Coming back this summer, we have organized many sports, cultural and artistic activities for children, union members and workers in the province. The most enjoyable part is being able to accompany the union to organize swimming classes for union members' children. To prepare for this meaningful activity, the staff of the Provincial Labor Culture House have made efforts to renovate the campus, upgrade facilities, arrange coaches... to bring the best experience to the children".

Meaningful exam seasons

Sympathizing with students in difficult circumstances, lacking parental care, teachers at Ky Son High School organized free meals for students during the High School Graduation Exam. The 2022 exam season is the third year this meaningful activity has been implemented.

Sharing about this idea, teacher Truong Thi Lan - President of the Trade Union of Ky Son High School said: “In our school, 90% of students are ethnic minorities, living in remote areas. Parents do not have the conditions to take care of them, so they have to take care of their own food and transportation, even on the most important and difficult exam days. There have been students who went to the exam with an empty stomach or with white sticky rice, and some students walked dozens of kilometers alone to take the exam. Out of compassion for the students, the school's Trade Union proposed to the Party Committee, in coordination with the Youth Union, to mobilize teachers in the school to participate in cooking to serve students in the two exams for middle school and high school."

The meaningful activity of the teachers of Ky Son High School quickly received support not only within the school. When they learned about this activity, a number of individuals, businesses in the district and the parents' association enthusiastically responded. Some contributed money and labor, the program quickly spread, becoming an annual activity without anyone knowing.

“After 3 years of implementation, we have mastered these tasks. Every exam day, from 3am, the women's union members, mothers, and volunteer students gathered in the school kitchen, busily cooking, weighing, packing, and transporting to the exam site... How to ensure that after the morning exam, the candidates will have hot rice to eat and gain strength for the afternoon exam. In previous years, due to the impact of the epidemic, we also supported the distribution of masks, hand sanitizers, and helped students find accommodation. The happiest thing is that we have called for the cooperation of the community and turned it into a good deed festival. For 3 consecutive years of organizing, Nghe An Education Trade Union has always followed, supported, and accompanied the school Trade Union enthusiastically," Ms. Lan added.

Talking about this activity, Mr. Dang Van Hai - ChairmanEducation Industry UnionNghe An said: “We highly appreciate the school's sense of responsibility in this humane and meaningful activity. Understanding and sharing the difficulties and hardships of students who are children of ethnic minorities in the mountainous district of Ky Son, during the 2022 High School Graduation Exam, Nghe An Education Trade Union supported 300 free meals for the students. This is also a regular activity during each exam season, demonstrating the affection and responsibility of the Trade Union organization, adding motivation and will for the students to achieve the best results after 12 years of studying.”
