Vietnamese community supports family with 2 children in accident in Germany
(Baonghean.vn) - Shortly after arriving in Germany, two brothers Nguyen Huu Dung (21 years old) and Nguyen Huu Manh (18 years old) from Hamlet 6, Vien Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District died in a traffic accident. Faced with such a tragic situation, fellow countrymen from Nghe An and the overseas Vietnamese community wholeheartedly shared and helped.
Nearly a month and a half after the tragic accident in Germany, the house of Mr. Nguyen Huu Chung and Mrs. Vo Thi Ngoc in Hamlet 6, Vien Thanh Commune is still immersed in an atmosphere of grief and mourning. Mr. Chung and his wife had 3 children, after the accident, 2 sons passed away forever.
On May 7, the car carrying Dung and Manh from Teterow to Berlin (Germany) was traveling on the B104 road when it crashed into a tree. Manh, who was sitting in the back, died on the spot. Relatives of the two brothers recalled that after finishing high school, Nguyen Huu Dung failed the university entrance exam and planned to stay home and take the exam the following year, but due to difficult family circumstances, he decided to follow his mother to Russia to work. After a while, he found a way to go to Germany. As for Manh, he dropped out of high school to work, first in Russia, then also went to Germany with his brother. Up to the day of the accident, Manh had only been in Germany for 20 days, and neither brother had any papers in Germany.
When the two brothers passed away, their only relative was a cousin living in Germany, and later their paternal uncle, Nguyen Huu Thuan (41 years old), who was working in Poland, came to mourn. Because Dung and Manh did not have legal papers in Germany and some other reasons related to funeral and cremation procedures, more than a month and a half after their death, their family still could not bring them back home.
Mrs. Ngoc - mother of Dung and Manh, has been working in Russia for more than 10 years. When she heard the news that her children died in Germany, she thought that they had died and come back to life several times. Immediately after that, she quit her job in Russia to return home. In her hometown, the debt from building a level 4 house and the expenses for her children to go abroad to work have not been paid off yet. Mr. Chung - father of Dung and Manh has gone through the procedures to go to Germany to bring their children's bodies back for burial several times but failed.
The tragic accident that killed two brothers has deeply moved public opinion. Charitable organizations, groups, Vien Thanh Commune Association, Yen Thanh District Association, Nghe An Association, Vietnamese communities in Germany, England, Russia, Sweden, etc. have all donated to pay for the funerals of the children and help their families in their hometowns.

The Nghe An Association in Germany immediately set up two subcommittees: a fundraising committee and a funeral committee. On June 10, the funeral committee held a funeral for the two children in Berlin with the presence of hundreds of Nghe An compatriots and Vietnamese people from different provinces and cities of Germany.
As of June 16, the Nghe An Association in Germany has received 58,538 Euros in support, and 22,000 Euros from Yen Thanh in Germany. The organizers plan to send the remaining amount to help the families after the funerals of the two children.
In recent days, upon hearing the news that Mr. Chung's family had two children who died, leaders and people of Vien Thanh commune as well as Yen Thanh district visited and expressed their condolences. Many associations, groups, and individuals at home and abroad sent money to pay their respects.
It is known that on June 23, the bodies of Dung and Manh will be cremated, after which their ashes will be transported back to their hometown by air. The loss of Mr. Chung and Mrs. Ngoc's family is irreparable, but at this time, the love of fellow countrymen far from home and humanity is still spreading everywhere, contributing to sharing and encouraging, hoping that the family will overcome the pain and hardship.
