Uses of hidden mechanical keys in smart car locks
In addition to opening car doors when the smart lock runs out of battery, the mechanical key hidden in the smart lock also has many other uses.
Many car models today are equipped with smart locks by manufacturers, which both bring a sense of luxury and convenience to users. Inside the remote control smart key, there is usually a small key included. The design of today's smart keys all have pins and buttons to hold the mechanical key. Users just need to press, push the pin... separate the mechanical key from the smart key to use.
Most car users know that the mechanical key integrated in the car's smart lock is used to open the car door in case the smart lock runs out of battery.
When the key runs out of battery and cannot activate the car door opening function, the user should remove and pull out the mechanical key to open the car door. The design of current smart keys all have a latch and a button to hold the mechanical key.

In addition to this function, they have many other uses.
Close, open child safety latch on rear door
On most current car models, the child latch position is located on the inside or along the edge of the rear door, often marked with a child image. This detail is often designed as a lever or small lock that can be easily pushed by hand or turned with a key.
When carrying children in the car, to prevent children from opening the door by themselves, the user just needs to remove the mechanical key from the smart lock, open the rear door (behind the driver) and insert the mechanical key into the hole then turn the lock... The child lock mode will be activated. At that time, the door cannot be opened from the inside. To cancel this mode, just insert the key and turn the lock back to its original position.

Turn on/off the front passenger airbag system
Cars today are equipped with airbag systems to protect users and limit injuries in the event of a collision. Front airbags are usually located on the steering wheel and in the dashboard in front of the passenger seat.
In some cases where the front passenger airbag system needs to be turned off, the user simply needs to remove the mechanical key from the smart key, open the front passenger door and insert the key into the airbag lock/unlock located on the side of the dashboard, then gently press and turn the key to lock the front passenger airbag. If the airbag system needs to be turned back on, the user inserts the key into the lock and gently presses and turns it in the opposite direction.
Open and close the storage compartment inside the car
The mechanical key integrated in the car's smart lock can also be used to open/close the storage compartment inside the car. This compartment is usually located under the dashboard, on the front passenger side. When needing to store valuable items, users simply remove the mechanical key from the smart lock, insert it into the lock on the storage compartment to open/close.
