Pentagon chief's attack on Russia angers US public opinion
Readers of the US magazine Newsweek reacted negatively to the statement of the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin about the possibility of war with Russia if the armed forces of Ukraine fail.
As Mr. Austin stated earlier in the hearing in the US House of Representatives, Kiev's defeat threatens to lead to a military clash between NATO and Russia. That statement angered the American public.

"This is not my circus. You provoked this, you have to deal with it," Peku Ite wrote.
“He is essentially threatening people with war if they don’t pay. Our country’s leaders have betrayed us,” Thomas R. Callahan III complained.
“This is extortion,” said Charlie Vigon.
“They’re just telling you what they’re going to do, which is start a no-win war right before Trump gets re-elected,” Rantus commented.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova earlier responded to the Pentagon chief's words. According to her, such statements by Mr. Austin clearly show that Washington is the aggressor. Russian presidential candidate and LDPR party leader Leonid Slutsky also expressed his opinion, saying that the conflict between NATO and Russia in the best case scenario will end with the collapse of the alliance, and in the worst - nuclear war and the end of the world.
