This is not the first time such a heartbreaking incident has occurred. In 2010, about 14 workers jumped to their deaths at a Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, forcing the company to install nets around the dormitories.

An unfortunate incident just happened at the Foxconn factory that assembles products for Apple in China. A 31-year-old worker named Ming Li committed suicide on the factory premises in Zhengzhou. The victim lived in room 4-529 in the factory dormitory.

China Labor Watch (CLW) said Ming Li's employee number was P4163866. It is unclear what led to the decision to end Ming's life. According to CLW, Ming Li had worked for Foxconn for two months.

This is not a new story at Foxconn factories in China. In 2009, a 25-year-old worker jumped out of a Foxconn dormitory to commit suicide. The reason was that he lost an iPhone prototype and was beaten and insulted by Foxconn security guards.

The number of suicides peaked in 2010, when 14 workers jumped to their deaths from buildings at Foxconn’s Shenzhen plant, prompting the company to install suicide nets around dormitories.

However, this measure did not solve the problem, as more than four victims were found dead in the same year 2010. In November 2017, interns at Foxconn were found to have worked overtime, which is against Chinese law. Both Apple and China confirmed the information, but insisted that the interns had worked overtime voluntarily.
