Recognizing the qualifications of 494 National Assembly deputies and 321,392 People's Council deputies

The 14th National Assembly has 494 delegates. The whole country has 3,907 provincial People's Council delegates; 25,180 district People's Council delegates and 292,305 commune People's Council delegates.

This morning (July 18), in Hanoi, a national conference will take place to summarize the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2016-2021 term.

Previously, according to the assessment of the National Election Council, the election ensured democracy, equality, legality, safety, economy and was truly a festival for all people.

President Tran Dai Quang casts his vote to elect deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels at constituency No. 8, Nhan Chinh ward (Hanoi) on May 22.

The total number of voters who participated in the vote was 67,049,091, reaching 99.35% of the total 67,485,482 voters. The total number of National Assembly deputies elected on May 22, 2016 and the additional election on May 29, 2016 in Can Tho was 496 people.

The total number of elected provincial People's Council delegates is 3,908 people; district level is 25,181 people and commune level is 292,306 people.

Based on the election summary results and the results of handling complaints and denunciations related to elected National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels, the National Election Council and Election Committees at all levels have completed the confirmation of qualifications of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2016-2021 term.

With a serious and responsible spirit, the National Election Council has been careful in considering and confirming the qualifications of delegates, and has voted by ballot. As a result, the qualifications of 2 National Assembly delegates were not recognized. Thus, there are 494 delegates qualified to be delegates of the 14th National Assembly.

Nationwide, there are 3,907 provincial People's Council delegates; 25,180 district People's Council delegates; and 292,305 commune People's Council delegates recognized as qualified People's Council delegates.

Regarding the 14th National Assembly delegates, two people whose qualifications were not recognized were Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh (elected in Hau Giang) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong (elected in Hanoi).

Regarding the case of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh - former Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, after clarifying the signs of violations, the Central Inspection Committee decided and requested to conduct the process of reviewing and disciplining Mr. Thanh.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong violated Article 4 of the Law on Vietnamese Nationality when she registered for citizenship of the Republic of Malta while she was a Vietnamese citizen living and working in Vietnam./.
