Currently, the striker born in 1995 is the current captain of HAGL competing in V.League 2017. At the age of 22, Cong Phuong is the youngest captain among the 14 participating teams. After analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of each person, I decided to give the captain's armband to Cong Phuong.

Phuong has shown responsibility and leadership qualities in training and activities at U23 Vietnam. That is the reason I decided to give the captain's armband to Cong Phuong. As you can see, when the pressure was relieved, Phuong had a very good match today." That means, coach Nguyen Huu Thang observed and thought a lot before putting his trust in Cong Phuong.
