Cong Phuong takes the field, Incheon United wins against Gyeongnam
Facing Gyeongnam at 12 noon on March 9, Incheon United won a narrow 2-1 victory. Notably, Cong Phuong made his K-League debut in the final minutes.
After a 1-1 draw against Jeju United in the first round, Incheon entered the home match against Gyeongnam FC with great confidence. Incheon fielded their strongest lineup. Quality players like Cong Phuong and Heo Yong-jun were kept on the bench.
However, the visitors proved to be tough opponents when they dominated Incheon in the opening minutes of the match. However, it was Incheon who took the lead when captain Nam Jae-jun unexpectedly had a chance to face the Gyeongnam goalkeeper in the 21st minute, and No. 7 did not miss the opportunity to open the score for the team in black and blue stripes.

Just 8 minutes later, it was striker Stefan Mugosa's turn to increase the score to 2-0 after a teammate's assist in the penalty area. Conceding 2 shocking goals, Gyeongnam rose up.
In the second half, the away team continuously threatened Incheon's goal with a variety of attacks. The away team even forced Incheon captain Nam Jae-jun to leave the field in an ambulance after a horrific collision midway through the second half.
However, all that could only help the away team get a goal to reduce the score in the 80th minute after a mistake by goalkeeper Jeong San. In the final minutes, the two teams maintained an attractive attacking game. When the match had 2 minutes left, coach Jorn Andersen used his last substitution to send Cong Phuong onto the field.
