Cong Phuong, Tuan Tai speak up, U22 Vietnam wins big against Cambodia
(Baonghean.vn)- In the second match of Group B, U22 Cambodia caused many difficulties for Coach Nguyen Huu Thang's students.
Against U23 Cambodia, U22 Vietnam made two changes to their lineup. Tran Dinh Trong played as a center back, allowing Duy Manh to pair up with Xuan Truong in midfield. Meanwhile, Tuan Anh sat out, and Quang Hai replaced Hong Duy on the left wing.

The first minutes of the match took place with the advantage leaning towards U22 Vietnam, coach Huu Thang and his team focused on the right wing with the presence of Van Thanh and Van Toan. However, the U22 Cambodia team also showed discomfort in one-on-one situations and defending from a distance.
The number of opportunities that U22 Vietnam created was more than the opponent. In which, Cong Phuong was the player with the most opportunities. After missing a goal in the 10th minute, the opportunity to open the score came to the Nghe An striker in the 19th minute. It was a situation of extremely fast acceleration from the middle of the field and finishing. Unfortunately, his instep shot hit the post.
In the 32nd minute, U22 Vietnam created a storm in front of the Cambodian goal with a relatively eye-catching combination, but unfortunately Quang Hai's shot went wide of the goal in a quite favorable position.

After Ha Duc Chinh missed a chance in the 42nd minute, joy also came to Vietnamese fans when Cong Phuong was able to speak up to close the first half with a score of 1-0 for U22 Vietnam. Starting from a one-touch combination on the right wing, Van Toan created a breakthrough in the middle and had an extremely favorable cross pass for Cong Phuong to tap in and beat the opposing team's goalkeeper.
In the first minutes of the second half, U22 Vietnam played a lurking game and actively stretched the opponent's defense as well as slowed down the pace of the match. Having to constantly chase the ball exposed U22 Cambodia's weaknesses and in the 70th minute, U22 Vietnam scored a goal to raise the score to 2-0. From a free kick by Quang Hai, the ball cut across the goal and slowly rolled into the net, leaving the Cambodian goalkeeper helpless.
Once again in this match, Cong Phuong showed his role in a shot outside the 16m50 box in the 75th minute to raise the score to 3-0. This is the HAGL striker's signature shot.

Just a few minutes later, Ho Tuan Tai, who replaced Ha Duc Chinh, who played rather poorly throughout the 60 minutes on the field, scored his first goal at the 29th SEA Games. Despite receiving the ball in an unfavorable position, the SLNA striker had an accurate shot, raising the score to 4-0 for U22 Vietnam.
Before the match ended, U22 Cambodia took advantage of a penalty kick to reduce the score to 1-4. It was a controversial move when the referee thought the ball had touched the hand of U22 Vietnam's midfielder Tien Dung.
However, that was all that U22 Cambodia could do because U22 Vietnam still played well in the remaining time and ended the match with a final score of 4-1. With this result, U22 Vietnam still maintained the advantage in Group B with 6 absolute points.
